ABOUT CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY
'Craniosacral therapy
”Craniosacral therapy” has it’s origins in the field of Osteopathy with the work of Dr William Sutherland. However, I believe this knowledge to be much older and used in various ancient healing traditions around the world.
Dr Sutherland dedicated a lifetime’s work into understanding the mechanics of the inherent movement in the body, which manifests as a rhythmic ebb and flow within the fluids of every part of the body, all together in rhythmic harmonious movement.
This tide-like motion continues from our very first moment to our last and is expressed through each and every cell of our bodies. This fundamental intelligence or life force organises and maintains the body in health. Dr. Sutherland named it the ‘Breath of Life’ and it expression ‘Primary respiration’.
For a trained practitioner listening to the primary respiration within the body reveals important diagnostic and clinical information about the health of an individual and about the resources available to them in overcoming physical problems, psychological and emotional stresses and the effect of trauma.
Blockages and restrictions due to stress, injury or trauma can be identified, and we can support their release in a gentle and safe manner. Because it’s a biodynamic approach, we follow the body’s inherent treatment plan – the body`s own healing intelligence which also works on an emotional and psychological level as well as the physical body. When the flow of the breath of life is free, health and balance can return.
